LPSCI.COM Software - Java Help Desk Server

The Java Help Desk Server is a minimalist help desk server based upon the Java Chat Server. It supports conversations between service reps and customers. Customers can go onto a 'waiting list' from which a Service Rep can invite a customer on the waiting list to start a conversation, presumably for some customer service. Customers cannot initiate conversations -- they can only go on the waiting list and wait for a Service Rep.

The Service Rep Client supports being in more than one conversation and being in a conversation alone. It cannot, however, be in a conversation with more than one customer at a time. The Customer client can only be in one conversation at a time -- its ability to add to the waiting list is disabled while in a conversation.

The Java Help Desk Server also supports a Help Desk Admin Client with minimal features. The Help Desk Admin Client is comparable in functionality to the Chat Admin Client.

Run the applet version of the Customer Client (last updated Feb. 17, 2001) for browsers that support Java 1.1, such as Netscape 4.6 and above and Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. This is only currently possible at night if the Java Help Desk Server is up.
